Coombe Lodge Wedding Photography – Siobhan and Jespers Autumnal Rainbow Day
Siobhan and Jesper are two of the most happy, smiley people I’ve ever met and Siobhan is the personification of a rainbow! This meant that their day was a beautiful explosion of colour, fun and happiness in spite of the rain.
They were as frugal as possible with the whole wedding. Coombe Lodge was actually the cheapest of the venues that they saw – which they couldn’t believe at the time because they loved it so much. It was perfectly what they wanted in terms of period and architecture, that they didn’t really need to decorate it any further.
They enlisted help where they could from family members and friends, and did loads of stuff themselves. They knew where they were happy to spend the money – venue, food, photographer – and where they were happy to save it – flowers, cake.
Siobhan’s Rebecca Ingram dress was from the amazing Pirouette in Exeter. She saw this dress about 9 dresses in and had the ‘oh my gosh, I think this is The Dress’ moment. Fiona of ‘Lovely As It Seams’ then did all the amendments and created the colourful satin belt. They were amazing, and totally understood what Siobhan was going for!Siobhan’s makeup was done by one of her best friends, Dani, who does make up and knew exactly what Siobhan wanted.Siobhan wanted paper flowers – partly for cost, partly to keep them forever, and because she loved the way they look. Made by Floral Derangement, she requested a custom bridal bouquet with bold rainbow colours, and the pages of her favourite book, Persuasion by Jane Austen. The buttonholes were made from maps, which Jesper loves. They’re now in an empty gin bottle in their bedroom!Siobhan’s gorgeous braid and crown was done by RG Hair Design. Wedding and event hair is one of her specialities.Siobhan wanted some big and colourful earrings as she was having her hair up, with a relatively low cut dress. Little Moose did the trick! They only decided to do a confetti shot when they were completing my questionnaire about two weeks prior to the day; they weren’t going to do one, but my photos actually convinced them otherwise. They spontaneously bought the confetti, and were both SO glad they did because the photos are amazing!Siobhan was worried about all her bridesmaids finding one dress that they all liked – they all have different body shapes, skin tones, and tastes! One of her bridesmaids (also sister) was in America, and started looking for a dress, and found this one. Everyone was on board, and that was that! All Siobhan cared about was that they were all happy in the dresses, so it was a bonus that they were so gorgeous! The grounds of Coombe Lodge in Autumn were the perfect setting for Siobhan and Jespers couple portraits!Siobhan’s sisters designed and produced all the invitations, table name signs, menus, the seating chart, order of service cards, and a custom sign telling people about their Instagram hashtag. They looked incredible, and so professional.Coombe Lodge didn’t really need much decorating, so the decorations they did have were a hodge-podge of home-made and bought! They collected beautiful gin bottles, bought cream jugs from IKEA, with artificial tulips and crocuses. It was very much a mish-mash of different things! They had an M&S cake, decorate in secret by Siobhan’s mum and sisters. They were blown away by the incredible decoration. Check out those cute marzipan bees! The cake topper was custom from Etsy, saying ‘Dr & Dr’.They had two first dances. The first was a traditional Danish waltz, with Jesper’s dad playing the accordion as accompaniment. DJ Kieran Clarke was recommended to them by Coombe Lodge. They told him the type of music they wanted, and he played loads of personal requests.
