After getting engaged during lockdown, Amy and Russ quickly decided they would have a spring wedding. After covid, they knew everyone would be ready for new beginnings. Secondly they wanted a bank holiday wedding to make it a 3 day extravaganza.

Pylewell Park was a new venue with an already amazing reputation and it just seemed tailor made for a big event with 140 guests. Where other English Country manor venues feel ‘shoehorned’ into the spaces, this venue had thought of everything. It was a party palace. It also had incredible views of the solent. A connection to the sea was important to both their families. It had everything. It was the first venue they found and the first they looked at. They loved it from the minute they saw it.

The spring themes of dusty blues, yellows and golds were easy to choose. They wanted it to be colourful but tasteful. The stationery and flowers really brought their vision to life. They were guided wonderfully by Invites by Heather and florist Hibbert and Hagstrom.

Rose Gosling expertly did Amy’s hair and makeup!

Dr Martens were Amy’s shoe of choice and looked epic!

Ever the alternative dresser, Amy had grand visions of a costume change after the ceremony so maybe two or three dresses were needed. She even talked about a change into a black wedding dress at some point. But once she put on THE DRESS, she knew she didn’t ever want to take it off. The drop back is very Amy and the sheer magnitude and beauty of it really blew Russ away on the day. In the words of his brother, the best man, as she walked up the isle: ‘F*ck me, that’s one hell of a dress’. An amazing Stella York design!

They wanted everything to feel informal and relaxed. It was about people coming together to have fun! Garden games, deckchairs, beanbags, log fires, seating areas and natural, fun photo opportunities were all part of that vibe.

What they created was kind of a festival style atmosphere where fun was the name of the game. Apparently, all you need is a carrot and a bucket! 

And then, Bikes. Bikes were evident throughout the wedding as that’s where they have spent so much time together – on the road, on the edge of mountains, just being with each other and with nature. Each of their tables was named after a mountain pass or a hill they have climbed on their bikes together with the top table being the longest and highest – a famous ride to a lighthouse in Mallorca – Cap de Formentor. Bikes as name places and as the table plan and as the welcome sign. Bikes were everywhere.

Their cake was by West Country Cheese Company!

Both ex bar staff in different bars in Guildford and in Huddersfield where they met, good drink was a prerequisite. They had been to weddings where guests carve their meat at the table and loved that level of inclusion but they wanted to take it a step further. Why not mix cocktails at the table? Why not nominate a mixologist for each table and get people active and engaged in the things they love. They wanted everyone to be part of it.

Their decorations and lighting were provided by Elizabeth James Events and All Parties and Events.

Charlotte and George’s priority was to put on a good party! They wanted to ensure everyone was well fed and watered, and that they could relax on the day itself. Postponing twice due to the pandemic, these priorities were more important than ever having not seen a lot of people for 2 years! Ashridge Great Barn was the most perfect venue they could have asked for! Cat was amazing at helping them to put together their perfect day.

Along with family and friends, they did a lot of the decorations themselves. They were lucky in a sense to have the extra time to organise it all. Both fans of Excel, they brought all the planning together the month before when it was finally clear the day would go ahead at last!

I was delighted when Emily and James asked me to be their wedding photographer at Deer Park Country House! Having won pub quizzes together many years ago, I knew we’d make a great team! We had to wait an extra year because of Covid, but it was absolutely worth the wait!

They had a chilled summer celebration with lots of beautiful flowers, live music, and cricket!

We made the most of the spectacular golden hour with some relaxed couple photos in the beautiful walled garden at Deer Park.

Emily’s bridesmaids wore beautiful pastel blue dresses from ASOS. Emily shoe’s are from Kurt Geiger.

A year ago today, I photographed Jenna and Jack’s epic wedding at Huntsham Court. The Covid situation was getting serious, and this was the first and last full wedding I photographed in 2020. We went into lockdown 9 days later.

It feels strange to reflect on this now. I don’t think anyone would have thought back then that we’d have a year of lockdowns and very limited weddings. It was amazing to have this final celebration and party before everything changed. Looking back at the photos, I am so excited for what’s to come later in the year!

Huntsham Court was the perfect setting for Jenna and Jack’s wedding. They went with an art deco style on all the stationary and Jenna’s beautiful beaded dress. As Huntsham Court is beautiful and full of character, they didn’t need to add much to it in terms of decorations.

Jenna and Jack just wanted things to be relaxed and like a big party with all their friends and family. They loved Huntsham Court as they could have a whole weekend celebration with their guests rather than just one day.

Lockdown cancelled Hayley and Mike’s original wedding plans in May. They still wanted to get married in 2020 and didn’t mind compromising on certain things. COVID cases were reducing in July so they went ahead planning a small summer wedding. In order to keep everyone safe, they had to reduce numbers substantially and just have their parents, nan, siblings and their partners.

Hayley and Mike got married in a beautiful, intimate ceremony on the 15^th September 2020 at Ocean Kave. After the ceremony they had a lovely cream tea in the barn there. This was arranged literally a few days before the wedding as government restrictions had just been lifted.

In the end, it didn’t feel like they compromised on their wedding at all. Their family stayed safe and they got married which was the end goal. Hayley and Mike are happy they can enjoy the rest of their married life together. After the hard year it meant a lot for them to be able to spend quality time with close family.

At the start of 2020, Emma and Mike had originally booked their summer wedding at Country Ways for over 100 guests. The pandemic quickly stopped their planning. They kept things on pause for a little while as the situation unfolded. It soon became clear the big wedding they had started to plan for couldn’t go ahead.

Emma and Mike knew if there was any way they could get married, then they would. They set the wheels in motion for a wedding from either 2 to 20 people. Keeping it to immediate family meant they wouldn’t have too many people to organise as things were changing so rapidly and unexpectedly. Country Ways were brilliant, supportive, and happy to work with them to make their day special however it ended up taking place.

It was obviously very hard to have to tell so many close friends and family that they couldn’t be there. Everyone was so supportive and happy that they wanted to go ahead with it that they knew straight away it was the right decision!

The day itself ended up perfect. Decorating the venue the day before meant they all had loads of time to relax in the morning and have some bubbles in the on site hot tub. They used technology where they could to keep in touch with the missing bridal party. Their Australian family joined them for the ceremony on Zoom. They were so grateful they could have loved ones there in some way!

With just 9 of them there on the day they had so much quality time together. They weren’t allowed a reception due to regulations but they enjoyed the loveliest family BBQ after the ceremony, had lawn games in the sun and almost finished all the wedding cake!

Even though it was a world away from what they had been planning, Emma and Mike were so pleased they went ahead with their day. Having to scale it all back so much reminded them both what the day was all about. As long as they where there, that was what was most important!

The amazing Claire and George got married last August at Muddifords Court. I couldn’t have been more delighted to be their wedding photographer!

George has a big Greek Cypriot family they wanted to include both Greek and English traditions in a venue that gave them the space to hold everyone and the freedom to decorate it how they liked. They went for a copper and green colour scheme using lots of foliage, eucalyptus, succulents and copper candle holders and terrariums.

Claire and George both work in the wedding industry and had a collection of suppliers they really wanted to use. It was an absolute honour to be chosen by them. I’ve admired Claire’s amazing headpieces for years and I couldn’t wait to see what she created for her own wedding!

Rowena and Tomos wanted a wedding that was local, fuss free and DIY. They wanted everyone to feel involved and come together to do something fun.

They had a beautiful, musical ceremony at Chagford Church, followed by a marquee at home, a hog roast and a Yorkshire pudding canapé, which was all Rowena had ever planned for her perfect wedding.

The theme was always going to be something rustic – Tomos is from the Brecon Beacons and Rowena is from Dartmoor, so they wanted to stay true to their country roots!

An amazing Ceilidh dance bought everyone together in the evening!

Siobhan and Jesper are two of the most happy, smiley people I’ve ever met and Siobhan is the personification of a rainbow! This meant that their day was a beautiful explosion of colour, fun and happiness in spite of the rain.

They were as frugal as possible with the whole wedding. Coombe Lodge was actually the cheapest of the venues that they saw – which they couldn’t believe at the time because they loved it so much. It was perfectly what they wanted in terms of period and architecture, that they didn’t really need to decorate it any further.

They enlisted help where they could from family members and friends, and did loads of stuff themselves. They knew where they were happy to spend the money – venue, food, photographer – and where they were happy to save it – flowers, cake.
